Today I spent my day studying.\u00a0Feels good to be catching up with studies.\u00a0<\/div>\n
There’s something I want to share with all my fellow NUS juniors out there,<\/div>\n
who are interested in NOC about what I have learnt so far! So that I don’t<\/div>\n
just keep it in my mind about China! especially Shanghai!<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Issue\u00a01:<\/em><\/div>\n
When I was still a bumpkin back in Singapore, I hear businessmen saying:<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n
"China has 1.3 billion people, if we are able to capture 10%… blah blah"<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
My take:<\/em><\/div>\n
True. of course there is 1.3 billion people. BUT! within china, this one big market<\/div>\n
is actually divided into many many smaller pieces, akin to the different countries<\/div>\n
in the different parts of the world. <\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
The only good thing is that it is considered one country\u00a0so licensing wise, its <\/div>\n
easier for a 1.3 billion market. But then again, consider the red tape in a <\/div>\n
communist country. you have to exercise caution.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Issue\u00a02:<\/em><\/div>\n
The manufacturing costs in China is cheap! why think so much? Invest!<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
My Take:<\/em><\/div>\n
I think this is commonly known as the "China Price" as I would quote business week.<\/div>\n
If R&D is a big market in the western world then C&P is a big market here in China!<\/div>\n
with 1.3B people, talent is not too difficult to find. <\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
These Talents uses C&P (Copy and Paste) technology that MNCs bring into their <\/div>\n
China factories to lower costs. These talents in turn, share the technology and starts<\/div>\n
to produce these to the market, at a lower price (maybe of equal or lower quality).<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Think long term and short term costs.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Issue 3:<\/em><\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
You would have learnt that its not only what you know, its also WHO you know. <\/div>\n
It’s applicable everywhere in the world! and why would China make a difference?<\/div>\n
How is \u5173\u7cfb<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(relationship \/ Guan xi ) different from that ?<\/div>\n

My take:<\/em><\/div>\n
Well, after my 60+ days in Shanghai. I got to learn that actually the entire Shanghai is<\/div>\n
divided into different districts and each district may have slightly different interpretations<\/div>\n
of the same law and these different interpretations can make or break your way around<\/div>\n
here.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
How different are their interpretations? That depends on how well is your \u5173\u7cfb with them.<\/div>\n
Get it? That’s Guan xi for me. Still learning though. =)<\/div>\n

Issue 4:<\/em><\/div>\n
So how exactly do I build that \u5173\u7cfb You have mentioned?<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n
