Today marks my last day of the NOC(NUS Overseas College)\u00a0program. <\/font><\/div>\n
I am leaving <\/font>for Singapore tomorrow morning. While packing my bag, <\/font><\/div>\n
I\u00a0had a strange feeling that I never felt before… <\/font><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/font><\/div>\n
The Cycle…<\/font><\/strong><\/div>\n
I can still remember myself coming into this apartment in July 2007, <\/font><\/div>\n
getting ready to <\/font>take on anything in my way… Throughout this year, <\/font><\/div>\n
I have\u00a0been through and grew from <\/font>a variety of incidents and learning <\/font><\/div>\n
along the way to where I am now. (Not that I am\u00a0very <\/font>experienced, <\/font><\/div>\n
but I guess I have became much better.)<\/font><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/font><\/div>\n
Now that I am packing my bag, I could feel what my seniors felt while <\/font><\/div>\n
they were packing <\/font>their bags to\u00a0go back to Singapore. This strange <\/font><\/div>\n
feeling <\/font>whelmed up inside me and\u00a0I <\/font>have to admit that I\u00a0dropped a <\/font><\/div>\n
tear or two. <\/font>It’s the feeling of leaving what you have built <\/font>up here <\/font><\/div>\n
behind…<\/font><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/font><\/div>\n
What I have learnt:<\/font><\/strong><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/font><\/div>\n
– Ask at least 3 persons on ANYTHING you\u00a0are unsure<\/font><\/div>\n
Especially\u00a0useful on directions. Never trust\u00a0completely what one person <\/font><\/div>\n
says. <\/font>even if the <\/font>person means no harm, he\/she may not know enough\u00a0<\/font><\/div>\n
information <\/font>to give you the full picture.<\/font><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/font><\/div>\n
– Patience<\/font><\/div>\n
You have to live with the\u00a0bureaucracy here in China. because the <\/font><\/div>\n
system <\/font>is like <\/font>that and the <\/font>people are very used to the system… <\/font><\/div>\n
of waiting for <\/font>a long time for <\/font>procedures to be done.<\/font><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/font><\/div>\n
– Negotiate<\/font><\/div>\n
You can negotiate just about ANYTHING in China! Simply because <\/font><\/div>\n
of the <\/font>fact <\/font>that everything <\/font>allows some flexiblity. even in the <\/font><\/div>\n
interpretation of <\/font>the law. <\/font>That is why, we can bargain for the <\/font>best <\/font><\/div>\n
price for products. You <\/font>can even talk <\/font>your way round getting a <\/font><\/div>\n
cheaper fare for taxi rides. <\/font>I feel <\/font>that is a good thing <\/font>about China… <\/font><\/div>\n
if you know how to leverage and not <\/font>get leveraged.<\/font><\/div>\n

– About Shanghainese (In general)<\/font><\/div>\n
They tend to be very fast paced and inpatient (on the contrary <\/font><\/div>\n
to the <\/font>above <\/font>point).\u00a0They are <\/font>also very goal oriented, which is very <\/font><\/div>\n
much like <\/font>me, getting <\/font>things done is a must! hehe!\u00a0<\/font>And! <\/font><\/div>\n
Shanghainese people are <\/font>very pretty! (REALLY!)<\/font><\/div>\n
<\/font>\u00a0<\/div>\n
<\/font>\u00a0<\/div>\n
Farewell Dinner (Thanks Yvon!)<\/strong><\/font><\/div>\n
Had the farewell dinner at Pin Chuan. Really great food! luckily we <\/font><\/div>\n
had the 50% discount voucher! hehe! and it became pretty afoordable.<\/font><\/div>\n
I would reccomend the food! great taste! good price… if you have the <\/font><\/div>\n
voucher, that is… haha!<\/font><\/div>\n
