After crossing Horsburgh Lighthouse, it was 1am in the morning, took over from the other team and sailed till 6am to be mear Pulau Aur, south of Tioman before taking a quick rest and woke up to prepare breakfast at 9am. Finally reached Tioman at 2pm! The water is crystal and clean! Cleared immigration and had a rest for the day! So tired!
Started the day at Changi Sailing Club where we did passage planning to Tioman and practiced swing mooring on the boat. Finally cleared customs at Frontier buoy and practiced man overboard using sail instead of power. Finally headed to Tioman at about 5pm. Headed over the TSS to batam side then to Horsburgh light house before heading north.
Sailed through the night and only reached the next day afternoon at 2pm.
Survived day 1 and day 2 was travelling from Keppel Marina to Changi Sailing Club via Ubin and Tekong. Also practiced alongside with the technique to use bowspringto hold the boat while in forward tick so that the stern will propel outwards and we switch to neutral with a burst of reverse before reversing.
Starting the coastal skipper today. Reached the marina early.
Did a tight manoeuvre practice to do a turn in tight space (e.g marina) trick is to hard to port/starboard as boat is moving forward then switch to reverse gear, boat will slow and also turn at the same time. When boat is coming to a stop do a forward burst of 2-3 secs before switching to neutral then reverse again then boat will continue turning on the spot. Quite a neat trick!
Also practiced reversing boat into markings in transit (forms a line to show you are inline with the items in transit) and tacks and gybes.
At the marina! Wonder if we will sail Venture or Endeavour…
Welcome goodie bag! A cap, polo shirt and a waterproof bag.
Lunch with the group!
Lucas day 539 recovering from Fever!
Snacks while sailing
Dinner and piloting discussion for tomorrow. I got the first leg to pilot out of keppel to east coast!

“You must accept that you might fail; then, if you do your best and still don’t win, at least you can be satisfied that you’ve tried. If you don’t accept failure as a possibility, you don’t set high goals, you don’t branch out, you don’t try – you don’t take the risk.” Rosalynn Carter
