Kodiak Moments -Shuyak Island, Alaska Kayak Marine Debris Cleanup

Took 6 flights to reach Shuyak Island in Kodiak, Alaska. Flight was pretty good, used it to tune my body clock to Alaska time (16 hours behind with Daylight savings).

Met Hans who drove me to my host home (thanks Sandra, Jim and Amy) and we went hiking together with John and exploring the museums and places with Matthew before going to Shuyak!

Slept in tents and kayaked to pick up marine debris, drinking filtered rainwater for the past 15 days in the forest in a bear country is kinda scary at first, but I actually grew used to the tent!

The air was superb. For the first time, there was not a single dirt in my nose for the entire stay in Alaska. Throughout my stay on Shuyak Island, I felt like a minority: I see sea otters playing, seals swimming, jelly fishes, little salmons and hermit crabs in the streams and lagoons.

Cleaning up the island beaches was a chore. Really a lot of trash from all over the world and lots of nets which traps fishes. They are heavy and difficult to remove by hand. Thanks to the team, we manage to clear tons of debris together!

In terms of paddling, everyone was really competent except me (not kidding or being humble) they are really good at the sport and also passionate about helping to clean up the environment.
